Sad as it may seem to the Feline Image Association of America (yes, I made that up...) cats and fleas have been seen together! How can cats get the advantage? Flea control for cats may be the answer! So why, when it comes to flea control products for cats, does it seem like our furry felines always get the short end of the stick?

Even though cats seem to groom themselves religiously, they still get fleas on their adventures through the out of doors. They need a flea control product that is safe for their sensitive skin, and also safe in light of their grooming behaviors. That's where many people succeed with a quality, veterinarian-approved flea control product such as Frontline for cats, Advantage flea control for cats, or another flea killer designed for cats' sensitive skin.

Which product is best? It's hard to say.

For example, both Frontline and Advantage for cats stop the biting of fleas in 3-5 minutes (by paralyzing them) and kill 98-100% of adult fleas within 12-24 hours. These products are stored in the cats' skin and continuously reapply themselves onto the cat's hair, staying effective for a month. The continuous monthly application of a product like Frontline Plus for cats, or Advantage flea drops will help break the flea life cycle, as eventually no adults will be left to reproduce.

However, by the time you spot fleas, it's likely that the adults have already had the opportunity to lay eggs, which drop off your cat and into your carpet or yard. These can stay viable for up to two years before they hatch, so it's important to keep up your flea control program with regular vacuuming to get fleas out of the carpet, and regular use of either Advantage flea control for cats or Frontline flea control products. Otherwise, even if they don't pick up any new fleas from going outside, they can be re-infected by flea eggs already hiding in your house.

Both Frontline for cats and Advantage flea products are meant to be applied as a few liquid drops behind the back of the head and then they spread throughout the cat's body. They will need to be reapplied every month, though. And, Frontline for cats and Advantage flea killer are both chemical pesticides, so it's very important to read the instructions and follow them to the letter. Also, the first time you use the products, be on the lookout for side effects.

If you do notice side effects from your flea control product, I would suggest switching brands.

Fortunately for us, Frontline for cats, and Advantage flea control for cats, both have DIFFERENT active ingredients, so if your cat has sensitivities to one (or your fleas have immunities!) you can switch to the other and see if it is more effective for you.

Advantage Flea Control for Cats and Frontline Pet Meds Both Work - Which Is Right for You?

Flea season usually starts in early spring and lasts until December, even though there are some regions where flea season lasts all year long. In every case, spring is definitely the time when fleas will wake up, so you should start using fleas repellent right then or even a little bit earlier. Frontline for dogs could be one of your possible choices. But is Frontline the right product for your dog? And most importantly is it going to do the job?

Before choosing any flea repellent you must know that whatever product you choose it must be effective against all four stages of fleas (egg, larva, pupa and imago or adult flea).

Adult fleas need fresh blood in order to grow and reproduce. They lay their eggs on their host, and since the eggs are oval shaped they easily roll onto the ground. So, the areas where your dog rests and sleeps are full of fleas too!

Usually the complete life cycle of the flea can take as little as two weeks, but, if the conditions are favorable, the life cycle can take several months. You don't want that to happen because fleas can lay 500 or more eggs in their lifetime, and soon your dog and your house will be infested with fleas, and it will be very difficult to get rid of them.

Knowing all of that your product must be highly efficient, meaning it must kill 100% of the fleas (because if only 1% remains the cycle will begin again), it must destroy all four flea life stages (again to break the reproductive cycle) and it must be quick (adult fleas need only 36 hours to reproduce).

Frontline plus passes the test in all three categories. It takes less than 24 hour to kill the fleas, it's 100% effective and in regards to all four life stages. I have been using Frontline plus for a year now and I very satisfied. The product is really easy to use, the application takes only a couple of minutes and after that you don't have to worry for the whole month. A flea or two appear occasionally (in the warmer season usually at the end of the month) but the problem is solved very quickly and efficiently with a new application. This year I applied the Frontline in February for prevention, and so far no flea has been spotted!

Fleas can spread Dipylidium caninum (cucumber tapeworm or double-pore tapeworm) that can infect your dog, cat and even you (children are especially vulnerable), and the best way to prevent getting infected is to treat your pet and kill the fleas. You can buy your Frontline supply on line. Try to do it as soon as possible because now that it's flea season the demand will start to rise and so will prices too.

Is Frontline for Dogs Going to Help You Get Rid of Fleas?

You wake up one morning and the sun is shining and you’re sitting down for that first cup of coffee of the day. You take a sip while you flip open the morning paper but suddenly realize that your pet has not found it necessary to say good morning to you yet.

You get up from the table and go to look for them and you find them at their blankets scratching themselves uncontrollably. It’s happened. You have uninvited guests in the house in the form of fleas or ticks on your pet. The silent little buggers have decided to move in and invite themselves to a meal. Unfortunately they are feasting on your pet.

At this point in time the natural reaction is to go nuts and wonder how the heck it happened. In reality it’s now time to figure out what to do. Besides these pests making your pets uncomfortable, you don’t want them harming them to a point of skin or even worse a life threatening disease.

With the advent of many different products available to “so they say” rid your pets of these pests which one really works. I have tried many different products but the one I favor more than any other is Frontline Plus®. This product will very quickly address a problem and help prevent any potential future ones.

It happens to have the good housekeeping seal of approval and is rated as the #1 choice of veterinarians because it works on effectively fighting both Fleas and Ticks. After extensive testing the product manufacturer, Merial, has shown the following results:

It killed 100% of the Fleas within 12 hours It continued to do so for up to one month after initial application It can be used on pups and kittens over 8 weeks old, and on cats and dogs even if they are breeding, pregnant or lactating Another really big plus for a lot of pet owners is the fact that it is waterproof. The application doesn’t lose its effectiveness after you groom or bathe the animal. And it stills works after swimming. Breaks the Flea and Tick cycle you read about so often. This is probably the most important result of all. Otherwise a lot of hard work can be wasted on a month to month basis if you don’t stop the pests from re-infesting your pet.

For me, when the kids were growing up the child-proof packaging was good to have on the product. Having it applied in one quick application is also a great help. You open up the product, a neat little plastic applicator, by snapping back the top. Once you are ready you separate the pet’s hair and apply it directly to their skin.

The product works by remaining in the oil glands under the surface of the skin. By doing so it stays available to be administered continuously to the whole surface of the skin and then out to the strands of hair. This is what keeps the prevention cycle going and does a great job.

The other added benefit I feel is the fact it goes after Fleas and Ticks and provides a total program of Flea and Tick Control in one product. Other manufacturers products I’m sure work well but only on the specific problem for which they are purchased.

Products like Advantage or Advantix work well, but are for either Fleas or Ticks, not both. Frontline Plus is the most effective product I have found and it also kills the flea larvae and eggs.

My pets, both dogs and cats have never had any reactions and thankfully never any ticks or fleas. I feel that having a good program of prevention using this product and checking them frequently during the high incidences of flea and tick weather keeps them protected.

Responsible pet care is the cornerstone of a long and healthy life for you pet. Take this responsibility seriously and you’ll be glad you did and you’re pet will love you for it.

Thanks for reading.

Frontline Plus

If your cat is infested with fleas then you're certainly considering some sort of repellent. Frontline Plus by Merial is one of the most popular products on the market. Furthermore the product is recommended by veterinarians as an effective solution for fleas.

Now, let me tell you about my own experience with Frontline. I used Frontline four months ago on my cat Belinda (a beautiful tabby). A friend of mine found her wondering in the street so I took her in. The poor thing was in a miserable state; with hundreds of fleas crawling on her (she had worms too). So I took her to my vet who decided to apply Frontline plus on her. The application process was really quick and simple and as soon as the vet applied the product the fleas literally went wild. They were jumping, falling all over the table, and the vet told me that it's was a clear sign that the product was doing the job!

The next day my cat was "flea free"! I have to say I was relieved because I find them extremely repulsive (especially when I start to think how fast they multiply and lay eggs!). I forgot to say that Frontline killed all the ticks on my cat as well.

I was really satisfied with the whole operation and how efficient Frontline was, and its effects lasted for the whole month. The next time I need to apply Frontline I got it on line from a specialized pet store (through Amazon.com). Again, I was really content with its efficiency and with the price that was notably lower from the vet's price. I bought a 6 month supply (the 6 doses package) so now I'm set for a while. My cat didn't experience any allergic reaction to the product, so I must say that I find the right solution both for me and my Belinda.

I tried the Frontline spray too, on my carpet (it was infested with fleas too), and it solved the problem very quickly! Before doing my on line purchase I did an extremely thorough and wide research in order to find the best prices. You can really save a lot of money.

Is Frontline for Cats Really Effective in Killing Fleas?

Are you searching for discounted prices for Frontline Plus for your dog or cat? Frontline Plus is a product that is highly recommended by veterinarians as an efficient way to get rid of fleas and ticks. But, it has a high price too. Here you're going to find out how to buy this product at great prices.

Frontline Plus is a very efficient product both for fleas and ticks. Its efficiency last for an entire month, after that you have to apply the product again.

If you want to get rid of fleas it's important to break their life circle. Did you know that fleas need some 36 hours before they lay their eggs? So the product that you are using must kill them before that. Furthermore the product must be effective on the eggs as well. Frontline kills up to 100 % of fleas on your pets in less than 24 hours and destroys all stages of four different tick types (including the ones that cause Lyme disease).

Since it's proven to be highly effective the product is very popular and demanded, so the price is not very low either. There are certain things to keep in mind when buying this product:

1. Buy it online: you can purchase it from your veterinarian, but since they sell it in singular monthly doses the price is much higher. On line you can find the packages with 3, 6 or even 12 doses. This leads us to the next advice.

2. Buy it in bulk: buy a 3 or 6 month (or even 12 month) supply and you will get a lower price.

3. Choose when to buy: the prices are slightly lower during the cooler season. So try to get the product before May or June, when the demand will be higher (and perhaps prices as well).

4. Choose the right color for your dog: before buying the product you must weight your dog. Frontline plus orange is for dogs up to 22 Lbs (they need a monthly dosage of 0.67ml), the blue is for dogs from 23 to 44 Lbs (they need a monthly dosage of 1.34ml), the purple is for dogs from 45 to 88 Lbs (they need a monthly dosage of 2.68ml) and Frontline red is for dogs from 89 to 132 Lbs (they need a monthly dosage of 4.02ml). There are no specific packages for different cat weight (the only restriction is that the cat must be 8 week and older).

Frontline Plus is waterproof, so your dog and cat can still get wet and have a bath without having to worry about washing away the applied protection.

You can look for great deals on line on the various websites that sell pet supplies (but do not buy this product from someone who is not a trusted seller!). Since I know how looking for the best deals on line can be time consuming (and confusing too) I did a little research and I found the absolutely best prices for Merial Frontline Plus on line. The discounts are so high you won't believe!
