Just like dogs get fleas and ticks, so do cats. In order to rid your cats of these pests, Frontline for cats is the best choice. This is because this treatment can kill fleas and ticks within a matter of 12 hours of the application time. Ticks which are embedded can get killed within a matter of 48 hours once this treatment begins. A one time application of Frontline for cat's works for around one month and it continuously kills off the annoying pests. The best characteristic of Frontline for cats is that it can be used on kittens as well as older cats. The kitten however must be a minimum of 8 weeks old in order to get treated using this medicine. Pregnant and lactating cats can also be applied this treatment. Many cats like to be outdoors most of the time and most owners allow their cats to roam freely out in the yard. Frontline for cats can also be used on cats that spend most of their time outdoors as this product is waterproof. One thing which should be kept in mind is that once this treatment has been applied, a cat must stay dry for at least 24 hours in order for the treatment to enter the body and begin the process of killing fleas and ticks. When Frontline for cats is being applied, it should be done using a spot on applicator. This applicator should be changed on a monthly basis.

When this medicine is applied on the cat, the ingredients become stored in the oil glands of the cats skin. The repellant is brought up on to the surface of the skin which does not allow any infestation to occur. Over the period of 1 month, the medicine continuously releases itself on a timely basis. Many times people notice that after the first application, the amount of fleas on their cat increase. This is normal as at this point, the fleas inside the skin want to get onto the top coat so they can leave. However before the fleas can leave from the cats skin, they die. Some fleas may be found in various areas around your home as well. Just be sure to keep giving your cat the Frontline for cat's treatment and all fleas will die. This is because your cat will not be a host to these fleas anymore.

Frontline for cats is considered to be the choice for many veterinarians as being the best for treating cats having fleas and/or ticks. Cats that are applied with this treatment are ensured protection from any type of disease or illness which is usually caused by fleas and ticks.

Another good idea would be to wash the bed, blanket and toys which your cat makes use of. Any other item which the cat uses should also be washed once your cat has had his/her first application of Frontline. Hot water can also be used in order to kill any fleas, larvae, eggs or pupae which may be found.

Just like dogs get fleas and ticks, so do cats. In order to rid your cats of these pests, Frontline for cats is the best choice.

Whats the Difference Between Frontline Plus for Cats and Regular Frontline for Cats?

Sad as it may seem to the Feline Image Association of America (yes, I made that up...) cats and fleas have been seen together! How can cats get the advantage? Flea control for cats may be the answer! So why, when it comes to flea control products for cats, does it seem like our furry felines always get the short end of the stick?

Even though cats seem to groom themselves religiously, they still get fleas on their adventures through the out of doors. They need a flea control product that is safe for their sensitive skin, and also safe in light of their grooming behaviors. That's where many people succeed with a quality, veterinarian-approved flea control product such as Frontline for cats, Advantage flea control for cats, or another flea killer designed for cats' sensitive skin.

Which product is best? It's hard to say.

For example, both Frontline and Advantage for cats stop the biting of fleas in 3-5 minutes (by paralyzing them) and kill 98-100% of adult fleas within 12-24 hours. These products are stored in the cats' skin and continuously reapply themselves onto the cat's hair, staying effective for a month. The continuous monthly application of a product like Frontline Plus for cats, or Advantage flea drops will help break the flea life cycle, as eventually no adults will be left to reproduce.

However, by the time you spot fleas, it's likely that the adults have already had the opportunity to lay eggs, which drop off your cat and into your carpet or yard. These can stay viable for up to two years before they hatch, so it's important to keep up your flea control program with regular vacuuming to get fleas out of the carpet, and regular use of either Advantage flea control for cats or Frontline flea control products. Otherwise, even if they don't pick up any new fleas from going outside, they can be re-infected by flea eggs already hiding in your house.

Both Frontline for cats and Advantage flea products are meant to be applied as a few liquid drops behind the back of the head and then they spread throughout the cat's body. They will need to be reapplied every month, though. And, Frontline for cats and Advantage flea killer are both chemical pesticides, so it's very important to read the instructions and follow them to the letter. Also, the first time you use the products, be on the lookout for side effects.

If you do notice side effects from your flea control product, I would suggest switching brands.

Fortunately for us, Frontline for cats, and Advantage flea control for cats, both have DIFFERENT active ingredients, so if your cat has sensitivities to one (or your fleas have immunities!) you can switch to the other and see if it is more effective for you.

it's not frontline but one of those generic store bought brands like it. I have some left over from a cat we used to have and I just used it on my dog. Is that ok? It's basically the same kind of stuff right?

The two primary ingredients which cause Frontline Plus cats to be so effective are adulticide and methoprene. The first ingredient is the one which causes the fleas to replicate and reproduce. As odd as it may sound, the reproduction is what causes the fleas to die quickly. The latter ingredient kills the eggs and larvae which may be left behind by the fleas. Amongst the features which Frontline plus cats has, the best is the fact that the product can actually kill the fleas, eggs and larvae. This is something which most other treatments do not provide. The other treatments may certainly treat the problem but is rare that the fleas get killed. When purchasing the Frontline plus cats from the vet, the chances are higher that you will be charged more. This is because most vets sell medications on a monthly dosage. You could instead find packages online which comprise of dosages for 6-12 months. The problem with this however is that some online companies do not provide proper medication and the type which they sell could be fake.

When you buy Frontline plus cats or any other medicine for that matter, you are likely to get a discount. Hence if you can buy the treatment f or a longer period of time all at once, you will end up saving a great deal of money. Another piece of advice which may help in buying Frontline plus cats at a lower price is if you buy during the cool season which is in the months preceding May and June. The problem with this however is that some online companies do not provide proper medication and the type which they sell could be fake.
